1. Keep it simple: it should be understandable to a wide audience.
2. Keep it short: it should be no more than 5-8 sentences (less than 150 words).
3. Make it clear: it should contain precise terminology.
4. Avoid mathematical symbols: it should use words, if possible.
5. Summarize: it should highlight the major topics/results, in the order in which they appear in the paper/poster

If there is no way to avoid mathematical symbols, then you should typeset them using LaTeX, enclosed in "$" like $\alpha$. If I have any issues understanding what is intended, I will contact the corresponding author for additional information.
